Mapping the Cmb I: the First Flight of the Qmap Experiment

چکیده

We report on the first flight of the balloon-borne QMAP experiment. The experiment is designed to make a map of the cosmic microwave background anisotropy on angular scales from 0. ◦70 to several degrees. Using the map we determine the angular power spectrum of the anisotropy in multipole bands from l ∼ 40 to l ∼ 140. The results are consistent with the Saskatoon (SK) measurements. The frequency spectral index (measured at low l) is consistent with that of CMB and inconsistent with either Galactic synchrotron or free-free emission. The instrument, measurement, analysis of the angular power spectrum, and possible systematic errors are discussed. Subject headings: cosmic microwave background – cosmology: observations

The Qmap and Mat/toco Experiments for Measuring Anisotropy in the Cosmic Microwave Background

We describe two related experiments that measured the anisotropy in the cosmic microwave background (CMB). QMAP was a balloon-borne telescope that flew twice in 1996, collecting data on degree angular scales with an array of six high electron mobility transistor-based amplifiers (HEMTs). QMAP was the first experiment to use an interlocking scan strategy to directly produce high signal-to-noise ...

Gaussianity of Degree-Scale Cosmic Microwave Background Anisotropy Observations

We present results from a first test of the Gaussianity of degree-scale cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy. We investigate Gaussianity of the CMB anisotropy by studying the topology of CMB anisotropy maps from the QMAP and Saskatoon experiments. We also study the QMASK map, a combination map of the QMAP and Saskatoon data. We measure the genus from noise-suppressed Wienerfiltered maps...

Archeops, Mapping the Cmb Sky from Large to Small Angular Scales

Archeops is a balloon-borne experiment designed to measure the temperature fluctuations of the CMB on a large region of the sky (≃ 30%) with a high angular resolution (10 arcminutes) and a high sensitivity (60µK per pixel). Archeops will perform a measurement of the CMB anisotropies power spectrum from large angular scales (ℓ ≃ 30) to small angular scales (ℓ ≃ 800). Archeops flew for the first ...

Effects of Humic Acid and Cow Manure Biochar (CMB) in Culture Medium on Growth and Mineral Concentrations of Basil Plant

In sustainable agriculture, protection of the ecosystem and reduce chemical fertilizers are the main goals. Nowadays, sweet basil, one of the best general fragrant foliage, is considered as an industrial plant. In present study to compare different levels of cow manure biochar (CMB) and humic acid (HA) on vegetative traits and mineral absorption rate of green basil plants, an experiment was con...

Archeops: CMB Anisotropies Measurement from Large to Small Angular Scale

Archeops, a balloon-borne experiment, will provide a measurement of CMB anistropies from large to small angular scale thanks to its large sky coverage (30%), its high angular resolution (10 arcminutes), and its high signal-to-noise ratio due to high sensitivity 100 mK cooled bolometers. We will therefore be able to put strong constraints on the value of the cosmological parameters. Archeops fle...
